Recently I read tips on how to live long and some of them made me laugh out loud. I read that story about a couple who are all above 100 years and still going strong. It is my humble prayer to hit that age!Watch your foodsEats lot of vegetables, red and green in particular. This will help keep you healthy enough to live to 100! Cruciferous veggies like red cabbage are known to help protect against cancer, while beet root juice contains nitrates that relax blood vessels. Drink black/herbal teasResearch shows that 1 cup of black tea a day can boost survival rate following a heart attack by 28 per cent. Drinking of black tea actually reverses something called endothelial vasomotor dysfunction in patients with coronary artery disease. This is a dysfunction which basically serves as a predictor for even more serious coronary events. Different herbal teas are known for their calming attributes said to have a host of anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic properties that help relieve and ward off a variety of maladies. Enjoy sex Having sex once or twice a week has been linked with higher levels of an antibody called immunoglobulin A, or IgA, which can protect you from getting colds and other infections. A happy sexual life with your partner gets you in shape and makes you age gracefully. It also burns extra calories and keeps you fit, combats asthma, relieves headache, reduces depression and calms your mind.Easy workoutInstead of taking an elevator to your office, opt for the staircase instead. This is a very simple way to strengthen your butt, thighs, and other muscles you do not normally use. You don’t have to break your bones in the process, just take two steps at a time every time you walk up the stairs. If you cannot do two steps at a time, try walking up the stairs twice a day. This small exercise will keep you going for many years.The art of stretchingKeeping your body flexible is vital to staying young. Stretching is best when muscles are warm, which is why stretching after a hot shower is so effective. Stretching improves posture and prevents muscle soreness, keeping you feeling young and healthy. One of the best ways to stretch is to truck twist. This is when you put your hands up in the air and then slowly bend forward to the right, and then all the way around. Repeat in the opposite direction as well.Hold your breathThis simple exercise can be done at any time during the day and will give your lungs a nice mini-workout to keep them healthy. Just take a deep breath in, hold it for 10 seconds, and then slowly let the air out through pursed lips. This helps to make sure that all the pockets in your lungs are opening up.Last but not least, chew food properly and slowly. Scarfing down your food prevents you from truly enjoying your meal. This in turn can have negative effects on your digestion and your entire system will tire out when it is always time to digest.
