Today Rwanda v KenyaUganda v Tanzania RWANDA Defense Force (RDF) quest for gold in the ongoing East Africa Defense Forces Culture and Sport Games died after a poor show in Kampala, Uganda. RDF, who are represented by Military football club and APR athletics club started on a low note with leading athletes failing to win any medal in the cross country championship. The national 10000m and cross country champion Dieudonne Disi pulled out of the race due to a knee injury while APR’s Jean Baptista Simuceka finished fourth clocking 13:02:01. In the women category, Claudette Mukasakindi finished eighth ending Rwanda’s hopes of securing any medal according to coach Innocent Rwabuhihi who talked to Times Sport from Kampala. Meanwhile, national football league side Military Fc lost to their Tanzanian counterparts 0-2 on Wednesday. According to coach Elphaston Bizimana, the Military side went down two goals in the dying minutes of the game due to defensive blunders which denied them maximum points. Despite losing to a Tanzanian side, Bizimana is confident Rwanda can secure a medal in the football event as hopes of landing silverware are still bright. “We still have two fixtures to play and if we win the remaining fixtures, Military will be in a better position of winning a medal in these Games,” Bizimana said. Bizimana further added that a win for Military in today’s game over Kenyan opponents will increase their chances. Military plays a Kenya side today which held Uganda’s UPDF to a one-draw on Tuesday. Rwanda is joined by Tanzania, Kenya and hosts Uganda in this year’s Games meant at harmonizing relationships between defense forces. Tanzania won the 2007 edition in Dar-es-Salaam, with Uganda finishing second while Kenya settled for the third. Ends
