After cabinet scrutinises the draft document next week, the Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategy (EDPRS) will finally be launched.The Government had previously planned to launch the strategy by May of this year, however there was a delay in the process.The document is a comprehensive development agenda explaining the government’s plans and priorities with an overall goal of effectively using the national budget.Ministers, secretary generals, and members of the private sector have already scrutinised the draft. Some EDPRS pillars include provision of the quality of education, promoting vocational training and environmental concerns. Other areas to be addressed include: land use management, skills development, development of industries, increase in investments, agriculture transformation and financial sector reform development.
