Yanga give Haruna contract extension

Rwanda’s midfielder Haruna Niyonzima has reportedly been given a two-year contract extension by Young Africans, according to Tanzanian media.The Amavubi assistant captain is now tied to the Jangwani Street team until March 2015, according to a member of the club’s board of trustees, Seif Ahmed.Ahmed revealed to Tanzanian press on Friday, that Haruna put pen-to-paper on his new deal at the club before leaving for Amavubi’s World Cup qualifying campaign against Mali last week.However, Ahmed declined to reveal how much has been offered to Haruna, who was linked with a move to the Mainland champions Simba and Sudanese giants El Merrikh.“I can’t reveal how much we have paid him, it’s a secret,” he said when pressed to disclose the figure.The former APR and Rayon Sport midfielder is among players, who were left out of the team when Yanga played a goalless draw against Police FC on Saturday in the Vodacom Premier League.Haruna has neither agreed nor denied reports that he has signed a new deal with the Kagame Cup champions.He just said, “As of now I am tied to Yanga. If you want to know anything about my future you better contact me at the end of the season.” He said his target was to ensure Yanga win the Tanzania Mainland league when season comes to an end in May.Haruna joined Yanga two years ago in a two-year deal worth US$30,000 as a signing on fee and a monthly salary of US$1500. With his contract coming to an end in May, he has been reluctant to renew his deal insisting that he wants to play in Europe but his desires have all been a failed mission.The Kagame club Champions have won 15 matches after collecting 48 points from 20 games, 11 points ahead of their nearest challengers Azam FC, and 14 ahead of defending champions Simba.
