Six of the eight people, who sustained injuries following Tuesday’s grenade explosion in Kimironko, have been discharged from hospital. According to authorities at Kibagabaga Hospital, two people who remained in critical condition were transferred to Kigali Central Teaching Hospital.One person died on the spot when a hand grenade exploded near the entrance of Kimironko Market Tuesday evening. Police urge calmThe Rwanda National Police said the incident should not be a cause for worry, adding that Police are on alert.The Police also called upon the public to cooperate with authorities to ensure that similar incidents are detected in time. “There is no cause for alarm, instead the public should cooperate with us by reporting any suspicious activity to the nearest authorities,” Police Spokesman Supt. Theos Badege said.He said increased vigilance, public cooperation, and beefing up security in most social places was the only way such incidents can be prevented.Although business had returned to normal in Kimironko, some traders who talked to The New Times expressed anxiety. Innocent Bahizi, the chairperson Kimironko Market, said the attack mainly succeeded because of power blackout in the area. “The attacker must have taken advantage of darkness,” Bahizi said.
