The School of Finance and Banking (SFB) through its affiliation to the William Davidson Institute (WDI) and Goldman Sachs, has announced plans of offering 15 scholarships to females. This was announced early this week by the SFB Rector, Prof. Krishna Kistan Govender. The business administration (BBA) scholarship programme, under the Goldman Sachs Scholarship Fund, will focus on underprivileged female students. This comes in the wake of a partnership between Goldman Sachs Group, a global banking firm and WDI, a leading education institute in America, to bring business education to Rwandans. Govender said the scholarship is aimed at providing female students who have financial handicaps, an opportunity to access university education. He added that the scholarship programme will be offered for four years, and 15 female BBA students will benefit from this initiative every year. The scholarship will cover all expenses including tuition and living expenses for beneficiaries. “All activities are underway and the selection committee is in place to ensure that the process goes on well and the scholarship is open to all first year part-time and full-time female students,” he added. Govender continued that female students will have to apply formally, and the selection committee will select the 15 deserving applicants. The Goldman Sachs BBA scholarships come in the wake of a recent announcement offering entrepreneurship scholarship programmes for Rwandan women. Earlier this year, the school announced women entrepreneurship certificate scholarship programme for under privileged Rwandan women entrepreneurs. The programme will also give women participants the knowledge and skills needed to launch or expand business enterprises in Rwanda. Ends
