Editor,This is in reaction to the story, “Students urged to impact on development”, (The New Times, March 19).At the invitation of the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission (NURC), I spent three weeks in Rwanda training Rwandan headmasters on a unique media driven peace protocol called Caring Habits. The article was in your paper on 11/2/06. This weekend and often, I speak to USA groups of how proud I am of Rwanda-a country that said “Never Again” and meant it-and much much more. The rest of the world could learn many lessons from Rwanda about mobilising an entire nation towards reconciliation between all country men (women). This article about Minister Vicent Biruta mobilising university youth to become involved in development is brilliant thinking. Bravo to Rwanda, a country really doing peace, equality, and mutual respect within your boarders-where many nations of the world are falling toward hate, oppression, economic decline and war.Elaine Parke, Pennsylvania, USA
