Does the Habyarimana family want the truth?

As everyone’s attention was captivated by the surrender of Bosco Ntaganda to US authorities in Kigali, another much more interesting drama was being played in the court rooms of Palais de Justice in Paris.The family of the late Rwandan President Juvenal Habyarimana had lost the first leg when they attempted to shoot down the findings of experts appointed by the investigating magistrates indicating the location where missiles that brought down Habyarimana’s plane came from.The Habyarimana family thesis, imputing the assassination to the Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF), did not hold any water and was thrown out. The family appealed, and on Tuesday they lost again.The experts were able to prove without any doubt, as had been common knowledge, that the crime was an inside job, executed by people who had access to the elite Kanombe military barracks. But the Habyarimana family were more intent to accuse the RPF than finding the truth behind the shooting down of the plane. Did they find political capital in blaming the RPF or do they dread to find out the truth?The elaborate attempts to mask the truth and manipulate the investigations seem to have boomeranged back to the late president’s widow; Agathe Kanziga, the investigating magistrates have now shifted their attention to Habyarimana’s inner circle and their French collaborators.Slowly by slowly, the layers of deceit are being peeled off one by one, what will investigators find? That is what is making some people uneasy.
