Editor,This is with reference to the story, “Electoral Code goes to Senate (The New Times, March 16).I would have liked to see an amendment regarding independent candidates who are asked to collect signatures of at least 20 people in each district before they submit their applications to the Electoral Commission. I find this requirement very restrictive and discouraging.The law should allow independent candidates to submit their applications to the Electoral Commission without requiring 600 signatures in support of the candidate from all districts.Joseph, Kigali
