Life is a Roller-Coaster

Back in a Ugandan high school, Morti was a proud and arrogant girl, who despised everybody especially the less-privileged. Cooks, guards, school shamba boys, students from financially disabled backgrounds, to mention a few became regular victims of her sneering insults and vulgar screams.She thought she mattered most and so expected royal treatment from others. The gullible ones bent low while those who tried to be assertive either earned themselves shouts of insults or slaps. To cut a long story short, she created the “untouchable” atmosphere around herself.Annette, a classmate, for no sensible reason became the target of her hatred and arrogance. Morti and her groupies conspired to make her life hell; more than once, they spilled filthy sewage on her bed while she was away reading at the library. They worked against all her interests including stealing and hiding her books so her performance in class would dwindle.Overtime, Annette became tormented and confused, since her life socially and academically was becoming deprived (thanks to their evil plot). They (Morti and her peers) enjoyed loud jubilations whenever one of their evil schemes against her succeeded. Annette’s poor performance became sequential; and generally her high school life became a punctuation of misery and frustration.Many years later, after high school became history, Morti got involved in a terrible motor accident and was rushed to a local medical facility. With thorough head and neck injuries, she was in coma and desperately needed help.At the hospital, it was quickly resolved that a prompt head surgery was necessary lest her life “ended” and she was wheeled to the theatre. The only head surgeon at the hospitable, for some reason, wasn’t around and so another one from a hospital in the vicinity was called in for this emergency surgery and fortunately came in time. Standing over the unconscious body of her patient; adorned in all the surgeon attire and equipped with all the necessary work implements, the surgeon seemed lost in an endless maze of thought, after examining the patient’s face with a frown; nasty memories came gushing in her mind. She simply dropped the surgical knives in a spontaneous awe; turned and walked away – leaving Morti to die helplessly. Annette, the one she tormented in high school was the surgeon.
