Dear its a guy thing,I am getting married in a couple of months and my fiancé comes from quite a wealthy family and also has his own personal wealth. I am not considered poor technically but this family definitely has more money in the bank than I or my family could even imagine.The other day, my fiancé decided to bring up the question of not combining our property when we get married. I am ok with that but a part of me feels like he doesn’t trust me or that I should not trust him and he might leave high and dry if something bad happens to our marriage. Am I over-thinking this or should I be wary of him? Sarah ---------------------------------------- Dear Sarah,This is quite a tricky question. There are a couple of ways to see his actions. One, he could be thinking ahead and hedging his bets. So that when, and if, the marriage fails he won’t have to split the property 50-50. If you feel that that is the case, then perhaps you should reconsider getting married. Not because of the money, but rather because he is already thinking of a Plan B. However, you shouldn’t immediately assume that he is acting fishy? Is he a businessman? If so, perhaps he’s attempting to protect you in case there are any legal issues e.g. bankruptcy. Did you know that, if he became bankrupt (and you shared everything) his creditors could also come for your property? I think that you should talk to him and understand his way of thinking.
