Fuel prices will, effective today, increase to Rwf1,050 per litre, the Ministry of Trade and Industry said in a statement last evening.“The increase in fuel prices is mainly due to the high oil prices escalation on the international market where petroleum products prices increased by an average of 10 per cent since January,” the Minister of Trade and Industry, François Kanimba, said in the statement. However, to curtail unscrupulous dealers from hiking prices further, the ministry fixed a price ceiling on fuel pumps. Effectively, the Kigali base price for both super petrol and diesel must not exceed Rwf1,050 per litre, he said.Pump prices for both petrol and diesel were, until yesterday, at Rwf1,000 per litre. The development comes just two months after the prices had dropped from Rwf1,050 per litre.
