RWANDA Cricket Association (RCA) has announced a provisional 18-man squad for the upcoming ICC Africa Under-19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier Division 3 ODI tournament in South Africa.The event, which is a qualifying round, will be held in Benoni, Gauteng, a city on the East Rand in South Africa from March 24-30.The 18-man provisional team, which is under the tutelage of Joshua Mwanja, a renowned Ugandan international batsman, has started daily non-residential training sessions at Kicukiro oval.The team’s general manager Julius Mbaraga confirmed the development on Saturday saying, “We have named a provisional team which will be trimmed to 14 players after engaging their performances in trial matches.”Rwanda, who finished runner-ups to Nigeria in 2010, will face Ghana, Swaziland, Tanzania and Gambia in a round-robin tournament.The championships will provide African U-19 teams with the chance to qualify for the U-19 World Cup due later this year in Kenya.Provisional team:Theo Gatera, Freddy Ndayisenga, Yvan Mitali, Charles Karasira, Bob Bashir Songa, Janvier Cyubahiro, Clinton Rubagumya, Derrick Bayingana, Evode Mutuyimana, Don de Dieu Mugisha, Eric Niyomugabo, Eric Ndangamyambi, Francis Tumukunda, Christian Mwijanda, Romeo Ngabo, Bosco Tuyizere, Arsene Muganineza and Audifax Byiringiro.
