Editor,This is with reference to the story, “Evicted residents petition President,” (The New Times, March 7).It is the responsibility of the government to resettle the evicted people living in disaster areas. Rwandans have value. They cannot just be thrown into the streets. That means finding land for them, then compensating them so that they can build homes and begin a new life.It is unlawful to turn Rwandans into internally-displaced persons (IDPs). The City of Kigali is giving new ammunition to Rwandan enemies. I urge his Excellency the President to stop this madness.Michael Rwiyamilira, USA
