ALL ROADS lead to the Amahoro National Satadum today, as the ninth edition of Fespad (Pan African Dance Festival), commences.The week-long event, held under the theme ‘Spirit of Expression’, is featuring prominent musicians like Jamaican dancehall musician, Beenie Man,Ice Prince from Nigeria, Uganda’s Keko and Nairobi-based Burundian Kidum among others.Speaking during a news conference at Telecom House in Kacyiru, Frank Murengwa, the coordinator of the event, said the event will showcase local music as well.“This year, we expect this event to be outstanding based on the various activities and performances that will take place throughout,” Murengwa said.By yesterday representatives from fifteen African countries had confirmed their attendance in the event that will end on March 2. They include Uganda, Egypt, Liberia, Madagascar, Burundi, Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia. FESPAD brings together participants from different countries across the globe to showcase their culture through music and dance.Today’s opening ceremony is free of charge. Sources say there will also be a Jungle Party in Gisenyi sometime next week.
