How important is debating in schools?

Debate is not wastage of time since one gets more ideas whenever people debate on a particular motion. The “Rwanda should attain middle income status by 2020” has helped me learn a lot of things in economics and entrepreneurship that I did not know before. I encourage my fellow students to take up debating, so that they can give others ideas on what they feel is right or wrong.
