Editorial: A healthy pursuit of happiness

The lives of the recent earthquake victims were changed in a flash. From one moment to the next their health was stolen from them. It was perhaps only once it was taken from them that those injured got to know what being healthy is. Our health story offers advice to those who have themselves or know someone who has suffered from TB.Even once the illness is overcome, one’s health is unlikely to be fully restored the article reveals. Similarly TB sufferers are likely to understand best what it is to be well when they themselves are persistently under the weather. Health is after all what you have when you do not know you have it. It does not however follow that if you mean to be as healthy as possible, then the less you think about your health the better. Health deserves thought. Prevention is best, early cure is second best and both require watchfulness. Pain and discomfort are our body’s way of tell us something is not right. There is nothing to gain in ignoring such clear warning signals. And while health is not the end in itself, it is the most important thing for the enjoyment of life. For all those who are unwell, I wish them I speedy recovery. For those of you who feel fine, don’t waste a second, health exists for life, so go on and live! Ends
