Newly promoted Amagaju FC are preparing to adapt to life in the Rwanda Premier League. The club which had been in the second division for four years knows it will take some time to adjust. But they are keen to put up a spirited fight and prove they deserved to be in the topflight division, officials say. They have set targets and especially want to be a permanent fixture in the top division. Amagaju FC has signed Goalkeeper Patient Ndikuriyo from Bumamuru FC of Burundi. He was the best goalkeeper in the 2022-23 season in Burundi’s league. Official Twishimiye kubamenyesha ko #Amagaju FC yasinyishije umuzamu #NDIKURIYO Patient wakiniraga Bumamuru FC y'i Burundi. Amagaju FC president Paul Nshimyumuremyi said: “And now that we have achieved our target of returning to the top division, we will go into the season full of confidence that we can actually do well in the national league. “We don’t want to only make numbers but to be a force there for many years.” Etoile de l’Est was crowned the second division league champions by goal deference while Amagaju emerged first runners-up. The pair will play top-flight football next season.
