Editor,THIS LETTER is with reference to the article “Lake Kivu traders decry double taxation.” (The New Times, February 12, 2013).It is a fact that “double taxation” is always an impediment when it comes to developing trade and commerce.Avoidance of double taxation between India and Rwanda will definitely enhance Indo-Rwandan trade immensely. It is my firm belief that with the right pro-active steps between the Chambers of Commerce of our two great countries and the subsequent signing of the necessary bi-lateral agreements between the Governments of India and Rwanda, we shall be able to avoid double taxation and allow trade, tourism and investments to grow by leaps and bounds.Clarence FernandesCo-ChairmanTravel & Tourism CommitteeIndian Merchants’ Chamber
