Umubano Blue Tigers (UBT) and Rusumo High School will compete in the 2013 national volleyball league. This was confirmed by the Rwanda Volleyball Federation General Assembly on Saturday.After the confirmation, UBT chairman Alexis Mbaraga was quick to note that his team will focus on using young Rwandan players.Umubano Blue Tigers was founded in 1999 but pulled from the league in 2009 due to financial constraints; however, Mbaraga believes the club is financially stable to get back in business.“We have so many young players, so I hope if we continue to work with them, the future looks bright. We have the resources to run the team and I am confident we will achieve success in the coming years,” said Mbaraga.The league is scheduled to start on March 2 and, according to the organisers, the national volleyball federation, it is supposed to end before September. Each team will be allowed to field only two foreign players.Meanwhile, former Petit Seminaire player Gustave Nkurunziza was elected the new chairman of Rwandan volleyball federation, FRVB.Nkurunziza was elected with 11 votes against 5 votes for his opponent, former national team player Antoine Sebalinda.Others who were elected include vice chairman Julius Kansiime, second vice chairman Jean Pierre Ribanje, General Secretary Serge Kayitare, and Providence Mukamurenzi, the new Treasurer.
