President Paul Kagame has paid tribute to Ugandan industrialist James Mulwana, describing him as a self-made and selfless person who will not only be remembered in Uganda, but the entire region.The President’s message was delivered yesterday by Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Uganda, Frank Mugambage, to widow Sarah Mulwana at her offices at Uganda Batteries Limited in Kampala.In his message, President Kagame said Mulwana worked closely with Rwandans, particularly the business community, and that he had an interest in supporting a conducive environment for business and enterprise as a form of empowerment.“When Rwanda was joining the Commonwealth, Mulwana was instrumental in securing our participation in the Common Wealth Business Council, which led to numerous other useful opportunities,” President Kagame said.The President said Mulwana worked hard to achieve his own personal success and mobilised those around him to put their efforts together to transform their lives and the communities around them.“Let me convey my heartfelt condolences to your family at this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace,” the President said.Mulwana (pictured), who steadily built an admirable, sizeable and respectable business empire in Uganda, passed on after a short illness last week and was laid to rest at Masiriba in Kiboga district.
