A special Night Run has been organized on Friday, June 30, in line with the celebration of Rwanda's 29th Liberation Day through sports. The local Athletics governing body (RAF) in partnership with City of Kigali and the Ministry of Sports, normally organise Kigali Night Run, a monthly running exercise in order to promote the culture of sports among the city residents. Every year on July 4, Rwandans celebrate Liberation Day, which reflects on the day when Rwanda Patriotic Army (RPA) liberated the nation from the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi. The coming edition was therefore dubbed ‘Liberation Day Night Run’, to allow Kigalians to do sports while also celebrating liberation. READ ALSO: Kigali Night Run to become a monthly exercise The run will start at 6:00pm at Kigali Heights Round About and concludes at 9:00 pm. Participants will cover a distance of 5.4 km. Kigali Night Run is not a race but a social sports event aiming at helping and motivating Kigali residents to do sports regularly and encourage them to run, jog and walk. The specialty of the Liberation Day Night brings people’s attention to celebrate the liberation Day through sports.
