Editor,I wish to respond to the article, ‘‘The Pope’s dangerous sex appeal’’, by Mr Ian Buruma, in The NewTimes, January 10.The author is an expert in confusing people: the pope and the Catholic Church are against same-sex marriage but they are not encouraging violence! Mr Buruma, you have mixed ideas, organised them to confuse people but many in the West, East and South believe same sex is not something to encourage. It is not a value to promote but we still need to tolerate and avoid violence against those doing that. If it is a question of violence, both same sex and heterosexual human beings can be violent. How can you compare children living with a loving mother and father with those living with two married men?Claire Umutoni, Nyarugenge, Kigali
