Rwanda Karate Federation officials have hailed Imbuto Foundation for promoting the sport across the country.This comes after Imbuto Foundation partnered with the Karate federation to organise grass root tournaments in different parts of the country aimed at fighting Malaria among the population.According to the national Karate federation Technical Director Guy Rurangayire, organisers, using road shows, will hold exhibition performances in Kata, Kumite as well as acrobatics.“With the support of Imbuto Foundation, we are taking our shows to places with many people like markets, and the massage is all about fighting against Malaria,” Rurangayire told this paper on Monday.Imbuto Foundation has injected up to Rwf11.5m into the scheme. The events started on January 5, will be held in six Districts.The shows are expected to cover areas of Kamonyi (Gacurabwenge), Nyagatare (Rwimiyaga), Bugesera (Ruhuha), Nyanza (Busoro), Rwamagana (Town Center), and Gasabo (Remera/Petit Stade).Competitors are grouped in two categories Kumite and Kata. The winning team will walk away with Rwf300, 000, Rwf250, 000 and Rwf200, 000 for the second and third respectively, while the fourth will get Rwf150, 000.In individual category; the winner will get Rwf75, 000, second Rwf50, 000 and Rwf25, 000 for the third-placed in both the women and men’s categories.Last year, Imbuto Foundation partnered with the Rwanda Volleyball Federation for the same cause, fighting against Malaria.
