Rayon Sports will sign two new players during the January transfer window, chairman Abdallah Murenzi has told Times Sport.According to Murenzi, who is also the Mayor of Nyanza District, the club plans to bring in at least one striker and a central defender to boost their squad.Murenzi revealed they are closing in on Burundian striker Filston Abdul Razak, 20 from LLB Academic, who he said is expected in Kigali in the coming weeks to finalise the deal.“We started the negotiations with the player but we haven’t agreed anything with LLB Academic, however, we’re hopeful on finalising the deal before end of January,” he said.About the defender, Murenzi admitted, “It is difficult to find a good central defender in this transfer window, but the search is on because the coach says he needs to strengthen the defence.The Blues, after making a slow start to the season, have made strong strides in the last couple of games, moving up the table to sixth position with 19 points, level with Fifth-placed Police FC and a further three points behind table leaders SC Kiyovu.Rayon has not won the league since 2005 and over the years has been struggling to challenge against archrivals APR, Atraco and now they have Police, Kiyovu and surprise package AS Kigali to contend with.
