Field Advice ApS, a Danish firm, will invest in the local production of environment-friendly products, boosting Rwanda’s fight against the importation of plastic bags. “We hope to convince the government, hospitals, African airlines and restaurants in Rwanda to start using our products. The main part of our products is biodegradable. Besides the fact that they don’t harm the environment, the products are of high quality and better than plastic food packaging,” the firm said in a statement yesterday. It added that it had also been invited by the government to explore other investment opportunities in Rwanda, especially in manufacturing bio-degradable products.Field Advice ApS will be part of a greater delegation with representatives from the USA, China, France and Denmark, which wants to explore business opportunities within the fields of biodegradable bags, building materials, vending machines, refrigerating food packaging. There should be enough business for everyone, considering that Rwanda in 2011 was elected one of the 10 most improved economies globally. The group is expected in the country later this month.The Rwanda Development Board (RDB) was optimistic about the firm’s interests, saying that the country was ripe for such an investment.“The country is in need of more investment in this sector. We are looking forward to showcasing the opportunities available in the country,” Vivian Kayitesi, the head of investment promotion and implementation at RDB, said yesterday.
