The Police has arrested a woman who is believed to be the key suspect in the murder of Dr Radjabu Mbukani.The woman, Louise Muhire, is the mother of two girls fathered by the slain Doctor.Dr Mbukani, 37, was a practicing gynecologist and lecturer of medicine at the National University of Rwanda in Huye.He was reported missing on December 29, but his body was found on Thursday in Kinyinya sector, Kigali hanging on a tree.Preliminary investigations indicate that the doctor was strangled to death then tied up and hanged on a tree.It is believed Muhire and Dr Mbukani had a history of bitter conflict and the suspect had previously attempted to kill the doctor.According to other media reports, the suspect had been arrested on two occasions after foiled plots to kill the doctor.“The investigations conducted so far point to Muhire. She is the prime suspect. The two were involved in serious conflicts before the death of the lecturer,” Superintendent Theos Badege, the Police spokesperson, told Sunday Times yesterday.“Muhire had earlier threatened to kill Mbukani. She is now in Police custody as investigations continue,” Badege added.Muhire is believed to have not acted alone and the hunt for the other suspects is ongoing, Police said.Mbukani was born in 1975 in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He was a Gynaecologist at CHUK and a PhD student at Gothenburg University in Sweden, according to the University website.
