Women should either sink or swim

I don’t know about you or the type of women you hang with, but I have issues with the women in my circles. These are the ones referred to as ‘Miss Independent’. Honestly I don’t see anything wrong with that attitude seeing as today’s women work hard to get where they want to be and our government has made the climate favourable for these sisters.However, what beats my thinking is how they want the best of both worlds. Although they have equal rights, work hard, earn the same or even higher than their male counterparts and wear their financial independence on the sleeve of their shirts, when it comes to certain things, equality should be put aside. Take an example of a lady and a man going out for a dinner date, according to the woman; they are equal and all. The evening goes well, the food fabulous, the wine the best, when the waiter/waitress drops the bill, all of a sudden paying it becomes ‘a man’s thing’. After that the equality- neon -light flashes back on only to disappear a few seconds when the man is expected to open the door, if he is bold enough to believe in gender-equality and simply jump into the driver’s seat without opening the door for her, she’ll sulk all the way home. If they run out of luck and get a flat tire, she’ll open her purse and pull out a nail-file as if it’s the natural thing to do, leaving the poor man to do the ‘man-thing’. Women shouldn’t expect to earn just as much as men, act like they run the world, and sing the independent anthem and expect men to treat them like queens. If you have decided to man-up I expect you to man-up all the way! If you want to be treated as equals then you should share equal responsibilities not just at your convenience. It seems to me some women want the benefits, but no responsibilities. Scrap from your vocabulary things like ‘it’s a man’s job’ or ‘a man’s responsibility!’ If you want true equality, then make sure you get out of the car, pump the car-jack while he gets out a spare tire, instead of sitting back and filing your nails while he sweats, yet he just paid for dinner! Style up!
