HUYE – Actions based on community needs which respond to specific problems will help accelerate the pace of development, the Southern Province Governor Alphonse Munyantwali has said.He was speaking during a meeting with various provincial development partners on Tuesday.The Provincial Forum of Partners is held every six months and brings together representatives of local and international Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in the province and the private sector.Speaking at the function, Munyantwali urged the participants to deliberate plans in line with the national development policies and asked them to involve beneficiaries at every stage of their activities to be successful.“Involving beneficiaries in the planning and executions of all your plans will earn you their support, which is essential for your success,” Munyantwali said.He urged them to champion for quality service delivery, noting that it was a key element for them to achieve their targets.He encouraged them to publicise and market their actions for them to create awareness.Speaking to this newspaper shortly after the meeting, Charles Gilbert Karake, the monitoring and Evaluation Officer at Care International, said: “Ownership [from beneficiaries] is important in whatever we do”.“At our organisation, we make sure that people own and participate actively in whatever programme we are implementing. This guarantees that the programme becomes successful and sustainable in the long run.”
