Dear Editor, This is to clarify on the article that was entitled; “government waives all taxes on diesel”. The title on the story was confusing. I therefore stand to put it clear that, government waived away all import duties on diesel in order to hold prices low. It did not waive taxes as the heading tells. This was after petrol and diesel pump prices increased from Frw799 to Frw892. Kerosene too was increased from Frw721 to Frw814. The hikes were blamed on the increase in oil prices worldwide, and the Government’s move to guarantee a 100 percent duty-free diesel imports was an immediate effort to avert a possible crisis.
