The Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) has arrested Theogène Musonera, the prime suspect in the brutal murder of his wife and their three children on June 15, 2023, in Kayonza District. ALSO READ: RIB Launches Manhunt for Suspected Killer of Wife and Three Children After evading capture for several weeks, RIB was able to track down and apprehend the fugitive on June 23, 2023. Thierry Murangira, spokesperson for RIB, expressed gratitude to the community for providing vital information that led to the suspect's location. Murangira emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between the community and law enforcement agencies to ensure that criminals are brought to justice. RIB released a statement confirming that the investigation into the murder of Mukawizeye Donatha, 32, Igiraneza Gentille, 12, Manzi Fabrice, 10, and Uwihirwe Kevine, 2, is currently underway. The suspect is being interrogated in connection with the crime. Once the investigation is complete, the case will be handed over to the prosecution. If convicted, Theogene Musonera could face a life sentence in accordance with Article 107 of Law No. 68/2018 of August 30, 2018, of the Rwanda Penal Code, which designates intentional killing as a criminal offense with severe penalties.
