After guiding the National University of Rwanda to the inaugural Malaria volleyball tournament title, head coach Fidele Nyirimana is eyeing the league title next year.“I am delighted that we won this trophy which will give us the motivation of continuing to work hard and look forward to next year’s league championship,” he told Times Sport.“Now we have to focus on the league next season because we have good players who can help us to win the league and this is my ambition ahead of the new season,” said Nyirimana, best known as Fidjo.The National University of Rwanda beat rivals APR VC in a match decider to win the inaugural Malaria volleyball tournament title. APR started well and won the first set 25-22 but NUR came back strongly to claim the second set 25-14 before the army side took the third set 25-17.With the experience of Eric ‘Machine’ Nsabimana and Flavier Ndamukuda, NUR won the fourth set 25-23 in a title contest hence taking the match into a decider, which the university side won 15-12.On the top of the trophy, NUR also walked away with a cash prize of Rwf500, 000, while APR took Rwf400, 000.The APR women excelled where their male counterparts had faltered with a comprehensive 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-18) over Ruhango .The national volleyball league is slated to start in February next year.
