Tapis Rouge has been transformed into a recreational and sporting space, providing numerous facilities that aim to improve the well-being, health, and community spirit of its users. A multi-sport court with facilities for basketball, handball, and volleyball, as well as a football ground, has been newly installed in the space, providing increased sporting opportunities for the community. The initiative was hailed by the community in Nyamirambo in Nyarugenge District. Speaking to The New Times, Claudine Musabyimana, a 56-year-old mother who lives near the Tapis, pointed out that since the space will start to be fully utilised, it will not only promote physical fitness, but it will also foster teamwork and discipline among its users, especially the youth. Musabyimana further pointed out that introducing parking spaces, outdoor spaces with gardens, landscapes, and plants, as well as community gardens with public benches, will make it an inclusive space that accommodates individuals of all ages. Gisa emphasised that establishing such a place would undoubtedly attract more people and bring numerous benefits to the neighbourhood. It has the potential to create a vibrant atmosphere and improve the overall spirit among the community, similar to the positive impact Club Rafiki had.
