UPCOMING R&B singer/songwriter Nikky, has diversified her repertoire by changing from her original musical genre Zouk to Reggae. But while she applauds change, she says the digital society needs to support female artistes.Nikky, real name Flora Nikita Ingabirye, announced her plans to change from Zouk to Reggae on Monday.The 23-year-old, second year student at Rwanda Tourism University College (RTUC), told The New Times that her decision does not only depend on her passion in reggae music but also her talent.“I realised that besides loving this particular style of music, I am capable of doing it,” Nikky said.The singer said that she was inspired by her fans and fellow musicians to do Reggae.Nikky started her musical career on a low, performing in choirs, before she started working with some of the country’s famous musicians, such as Tom Close — who later introduced her to the music scene.Her debut single, Nyegera, is currently enjoying air play on radio stations across the country.Nikky is now working on her first Reggae song called-I am still in love with You.
