Being the best we can be

This is for the young ladies and gentlemen out there, whose life choice is drug free, dreams are reality centered and their mind set reflects a bright destiny. Let us not only concentrate on the theory of books but try something rather practical. In Kiziguro Secondary School, five students started a proactive campaign to tackle issues like; moral decay, the cause of stiff youth unemployment rates, teenage pregnancy, child and drug abuse as well as advocating for peace, dignity, integrity and direction. The weekly campaign which takes place every Thursday has an active participation of students and teachers.Every Thursday, students, together with their teachers, gather in a ‘wisdom circle’ with every one’s keen ears waiting for the speaker. The presentation lasts only ten minutes, as allowed by the school administration, nonetheless, its passion guarded by wisdom and focus are well distributed. “Dignity comes from what you do, how you do it and why you do it, also, what you say, how you say it and why you say it,” said one of the five students nicknamed Sing Song by his fellow students.He added that young people’s success is not measured by how fast they memorize their notes, or how best they write in their books, but how significant their role in shaping Rwanda’s destiny is. Sing Song and his group concluded that within ourselves is ‘the best we can be’ if only we take the initiative to deactivate the noisy confusion within/around us and update the ‘victory spirit’.It is never too late to make up for lost time or start a new beginning. A morning’s defeat, with your ‘victory spirit’ may sprout into an evening score, from the ‘best you have within yourself’. Be the best you can be.
