Actress Natalie Portman in Rwanda Latest on the grapevine is that Israeli-American actress Natalie Portman is in the country for a Genocide orphans project. Snoops have it that the American film star is currently in the country shooting a clip to promote a Jewish-funded youth village for children orphaned by the 1994 Genocide. Hollywood’s young star arrived quietly in the country earlier this week. Meanwhile, the international media has reported that the clip she is shooting will be aired in a few weeks on the Oprah Winfrey Show, America’s best-rated television programme. The village, funded by American Jewish donors, will be developed along the lines of Israeli youth villages created for orphaned Holocaust survivors. Portman visited Rwanda in June last year for a ceremony in which 23 baby mountain gorillas were given names by celebrities. Jealous lover locks up lecturer Drama recently at the School of Finance and Banking (SFB) when a brave third year student padlocked his lecturer and his babe in the house for some good hours. It all started when this lover-boy discovered that his long-term girlfriend was involved with one of the university’s foreign lecturers. Upon hearing rumours, the boy stormed the lecturer’s house, only to the pair in a compromising position. “What a hell are you doing to my babe!” the guy shouted and immediately padlocked the pair in threatening to call the police. Scouts have it that the lecturer released some good sum of money in order to be bailed from the embarrassment. We also hear that the guy had no choice but to reconcile with his sweetheart. Impact Africa awards best artists Rafiki Mazimpaka a.k.a Choga Style, Kabatesi Allen alias Queen Ally and the Kigali Boyz Group (KGB) have been declared best male, best female and best music group respectively in a recent Impact Africa award ceremony. The adverting agency and events management company awarded $500 (Frw270,000) to each of the winners. It is rumoured that artists who were not awarded are whispering that nominations were carried out unjustly. Impact Africa is now said to be preparing for this year’s PAM Awards scheduled for 23 July in Kampala. This year, Rwanda will be marking its third year since joining the PAM Awards. Ends
