Rwandan companies produce high quality tea

Editor,Allow me through your newspaper to thank the management of Sorwathé for their commitment to improving the welfare of their workers. Generally, the majority of Rwandan tea companies today have improved. July last year, two Rwandan tea companies, Gisovu and Kitabi, emerged among the best continental brands in the tea conference and exhibition organised by African Tea Association.If you remember properly, this competition, the first of its kind, was held in Mombasa, Kenya, and had attracted guest participants from Pakistan and Argentina.Eventually, Rwandan companies emerged the best despite the fact that at least 35 tea companies from various countries had participated in the competition. We commend the local companies for the good work and the victory is, in my opinion, a result of the immense efforts the government has put in place to ensure farmers produce quality tea.Agnes Bateta, KayonzaEditor,I am not surprised to learn that Sorwathé a Rwandan tea company, has won this year’s US Award for Corporate Excellence for exhibiting exemplary corporate citizenship.Recently, I visited their offices in Kinigi and was surprised to see for the first time a local company supporting adult literacy. They also help their workers in the campaign against environmental degradation. Kudos to Sorwathé.
