Here comes the weekend – again. What is on in and around Kigali? Well, it promises to be a beautiful, sunny weekend. And as always, there is plenty to choose from, as far as fun activities go, and these are our picks for this weekend.@ LemigoClub Twist launch Lemigo Hotel in Kimihurura will tonight launch a re-branded and the hottest club in town, Club Twist.Special drinks will be offered all night, with a new cocktail and shots bar. Other offers will include local beers at Rwf1000, with Heineken and corona going for Rwf1500 and discounts on bottles.To make sure the atmosphere is right DJ Afshon will be on his “A”-GAME doing live video mixing of the best Hip-hop, RnB, Ragga and Dancehall as well as African hits, house and progressive music.It all starts at 10p.m and the party goes on until 6a.m. Aside from free entrance and free cocktail for the first 50 ladies, entrance fee will be Rwf, 5000.To kick off the December madness, the party goes on the next day “DECEMBER 1st” same place, same time, with a 50 per cent discount on entrance fee on all the attendees of the previous night, who will have the wrist bands on them.Film Award Gala & Film Week against GBVFollowing the launch of the film script competition on gender-based violence (GBV) in March, this year, and the script award ceremony on May 29, a film award gala with the official world premiere of the four prize-winning Rwandan short films on GBV will take place this evening at Lemigo Hotel. The function begins at 6.30p.m and it is free to the public. Film aficionados will have the chance to vote for their favorite filmmakers.From December 1-7, fiction and documentary films will be screened in the cities of Kigali, Gisenyi and Butare as well as rural communities in Bugesera, Nyaruguru and Gatsibo Districts. These screenings will include public debates in schools and community dialogues. The GBV film script competition and festival are a project of the Goethe-Institut, GIZ, Plan International Rwanda with Plan Germany, KfW and Partnership Rhineland-Palatinate.@ Liz BarWant to rub shoulders with Rwanda’s movie stars? Head to Liz Bar, located in the modern Nyarugenge market complex, tonight for the ‘Kigaliwood Party’. Kanyombya, Paul, Sonia, Ngenzi, Rwasa, VD Frank and Dada Cross are among the stars expected to be at the party. You are only required to pay Rwf2, 000 to attend the show. A free DVD of the movie, ‘Tuzibanira Part 2’ will be given to the guests. The party starts at 5p.m.Tomorrow, the bar will also host a party called, ‘Cheers Party’.Professional DJs Pius and Africa will help entertain guests with great music selections. After the show that begins at 7p.m, artistes and their fans will converge at Quel-que Part for the ‘After Party’.On Sunday, Danny, as he is famously known, will perform in Nyabugogo to promote his new album. The Sunday concert starts at 7p.m and the entrance is Rwf1, 000.@ Rainbow HotelDundastar finale audition The third and last audition for one of the country’s most prestigious music and dance competitions is tomorrow at Rainbow Hotel in Kicukiro.All acts in the competition are auditioned live. Contestants will demonstrate their talent and prove they have the vocal ability, charisma and the stage presence it takes to win the competition.@ Amahoro Stadium (main parking lot)Jay Polly launches albumKing of Hip-Hop Jay Polly, will, tomorrow, launch his third album titled, Umwami Uganje, at the parking lot of Amahoro stadium. The rapper will be joined by a host of musicians, including Knowless, Urban Boys, Young Grace, Dream Boys, and his Tuff Gang crew.Entrance is Rwf2, 000 (ordinary section) and Rwf3, 000 (VIP). Students will pay Rwf1, 000. The show gets underway at 4p.m.
