Editor,I totally agree with a recent report by Gallup Poll which ranked Rwanda as the safest country in Africa. Each time I have been to Rwanda, I feel completely safe! I have walked around Kigali alone, with my Rwandan friends and with other white people both during the daytime and at night and never once have I thought about my safety. When I stay with friends up in Ruhengeri it is the same, security is never an issue at all. Back home, I live in a city with high crime levels. I would never even think of walking around the city centre alone, let alone at night! When people ask me if I am afraid when I go to Rwanda I just laugh and remind them of where I live! Good job, Rwanda! See you next year!Marie Collins, Winnipeg, Canada *************************************************** Editor,I love Rwanda. And I agree, it’s the safest place in Africa or even in the world. My first time, I used to carry all my bags with me at MTN Center restaurant and when the waiter asked me to put my bags on the table, I said ‘oh no, Madam, thank you’...Then I understood, I was coming from Nigeria. God bless Rwanda and Africa.Moussa, Senegal (Reactions to the story ‘Rwanda safest place to live in Africa’, The New Times, November, 19)
