THE Criminal Investigation Directorate (CID) yesterday quizzed a chief editor of a local vernacular paper. Jean Bosco Gasasira, the editor in chief of Umuvugizi, a bi-monthly Kinyarwanda newspaper was interrogated for about three hours at CID headquarters in Kacyiru over two stories.One of the stories accused Finance Minister James Musoni of corruption, while another condemned the recent arrest of Generals Frank Rusagara and Sam Kanyemera Kaka. “I was grilled on the two stories which appeared in Umuvugizi vol.30 (August 27-10 September),” Gasasira said after the interrogation.CID Chief. Supt Costa Habyara confirmed the development when contacted on phone yesterday.“It is true Gasasira and was quizzed,” Habyara said. “We are still carrying out investigations and so you can ask him for details,” Habyara said.“I was interrogated by Inspector of Police Silas Usengemuremyi (the in-charge of media desk at CID),” he said.Musoni has of late been in the limelight for alleged tendering irregularities committed at the time he was still the minister of commerce. Musoni has since recorded statements with both CID and the Office of the Prosecutor General.“This time I am happy because I was summoned by police instead of being beaten up with iron bars,” Gasasira said.In February 2007 Gasasira was admitted at King Faysal Hospital after he was beaten by three men in Kimironko, a Kigali suburb.
