THE national football team has switched their residential camp to Umubano hotel from La Palisse hotel, Nyandungu after four players suffered alleged food poisoning.The affected players, who include; Emery Bayisenge, Michel Rusheshangoga, Barnabé Mubumbyi and Djabir Mutarambirwa, are still receiving medication to ensure that they recover in time before the team departs for the 2012 Cecafa Challenge Cup in Kampala on Thursday.Head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojovic said, “We had cases of players complaining about food poisoning and the hotel management could not give right explanations. We reported the case to our bosses (Ferwafa and Ministry of Sports), who decided to shift the team to Umubano hotel.”“By Saturday, four players were sick (with what is believed to be food poisoning) and until today (yesterday), they are still on medication but we hope they will recover in time for the Cecafa tournament,” the Serb told Times Sport.In 2011, Hotel La Palisse was temporarily closed due to poor hygiene and sanitation standards by the by Ministry of Health officials. It was later re-opened after meeting the required sanitation and hygienic standards.Meanwhile, the Amavubi team has been boosted with the arrival of DR Congo based striker Dady Birori. The AS Vita striker is a perfect replacement for AS Cannes striker Elias Uzamukunda, who will not be available for Cecafa Challenge Cup. The former Atraco striker is among ten players contending for the player of the year in DR Congo league. A total of 12 national teams from the region, each consisting 22 players, coaching staff and administrators, are expected in Kampala for the Cecafa Cup starting on November 24.Rwanda, which will launch their campaign against Malawi, has been pooled in Group “C” alongside Eritrea and Zanzibar.
