Rwamagana District has reshuffled the entire leadership that consists of Sector Executive Secretaries. The district has a total of 14 sectors. The Mayor, Nehemie Uwimana, termed this part of rejuvenating leadership in the area. He was speaking on Wednesday during an event to award four outstanding rural-based women entrepreneurs with certificates of merit in Gishari Sector. All the Executive Secretaries were transferred to new areas with some of them having served in one area for periods of over six years.“The exercise was timely; some Executive Secretaries had already served in one sector for over six years…you don’t expect such a person to perform anymore. The transfers are thus for purposes effective management and leadership,” said the Mayor.Addressing hundreds of residents, the mayor said that those awarded had played their roles perfectly in raising the standard of living in their respective areas.“With their excellent managerial and entrepreneurial skills, most Rwandan women have taken up the duty to raise the standard of living in villages and have been really successful at it.“Women were always deprived of a few things in our society, but certainly, there are many women entrepreneurs who are extremely successful and who have removed the label ‘we can’t do,” he said. One of the winners, Suzana Mukandutiye, hailed the government for its support. She said that the award underpins women’s efforts in the country’s development agenda. “We are doing well in various businesses and farming because of a conducive environment created for us by the government. I am sure that our determination to develop ourselves and the country won’t be limited by anything,” she cheerfully said.Uwimana further noted that in spite of many people migrating to urban areas, development of villages cannot be neglected as the economy heavily relies on the rural economy.
