Sandra Karigirwa, the Songstress commonly known as ‘Nyinawumuntu’ is back with a bang. After a successful Album ‘Nyinwumuntu’, she is now taking it to another level. Sandra will be representing Rwanda in the upcoming Diva’s Unite concert to be held in Kampala on June 8th at the Sheraton. The Diva’s Unite concert which is organized by Uganda’s songbird Halima Namakula will attract women achievers from different corners of Africa. Speaking to THE NEW TIMES from Kampala, Sandra sounded so exited and ready for the event. “I look forward to performing well as I represent my country” remarked a beaming Sandra. The Diva’s Unite concert will hold a get-together concert of women from all sections of life, aiming at addressing the needs of a vulnerable Girl child. According to one of the organisers, Halima Namakula, this will be an annual event that will be hosted in different African countries from time to time. Sandra, who was chosen to feature in the concert as a human rights activist, will use this opportunity to sensitize Rwandan women to stand up and build their ‘diva’ images. She will feature alongside Keefe, a musician and community worker from Nigeria and Amani, the sensational Kenyan songstress. Amani will feature as a youth role model from East Africa. Meanwhile Sandra is set release her new album soon, entitled, ‘Ndi ishusho yawe Rwanda’. The title track has already hit airwaves. The well produced danceable track whose beats have a fusion of the traditional Kinyarwanda drums is already having its video aired on several TV stations including EATV. However, the highlight of the album is ‘Tugende Ewaafe’ a dancehall truck she did with Uganda’s Kidd Foxx. It was sang in Luganda, Kinyarwanda and Kiswahili. ‘Ikindi ku mutima’ is her other well balanced track on the 12 track album. On the same Album, Sandra features Kay Morris, the Jamaican born Canadian Gospel Reggae crooner in a heart rending track ‘Love together’. Ends
