POLICE handball club head trainer is optimistic his team will stage a good performance on their debut in the 34 Africa club championships which gets underway tomorrow in Morocco.Alphonse Udahemuka told Times Sport yesterday the team is well prepared and hope to achieve their target of reaching the semi final of the continental championship. The team left the country yesterday aboard RwandAir.“We know we are going to face stern challenge but I can tell you we are ready for anything. We have had adequate preparations.“Apart from wanting to reach at least the semi-finals, we also want to make Rwanda proud. The players are determined to fight for their country,” stated Udahemuka.In Morocco, the Rwandan league champions are going into the unknown territory, this being their first time in a continental competition, but Udahemuka said he is not losing sleep over that and instead will focus on using the underdog card to their advantage.Police, who missed the regional tournament held recently in Kenya, will square off against Jeunesse Skikda (Algeria), FAP (Cameroon), Stade Mandji (Gabon), Al Ahly (Libya), and Ittihad Riadhi Tanger (Morocco) in Group A.Group B is comprised of Zamalek (Egypt), Etoile (Congo), Al Nasser Club (Libya), SOA (Côte d’Ivoire) and Mouloudia de Marrakech (Morocco).In the women category, Primero De Agosto (Angola), Africa Sport (Côte d’Ivoire), TKC (Cameroon), Olympic Club (Guinea), Saltigue Club (Senegal) and ABC (Cape Verde) are in Group A.In Group B, Petro Atlético de Luanda (Angola), FAP (Cameroon), HC Héritage (Democratic Republic of Congo), Nairobi Walter (Kenya), Abo Sport (Congo) and HHB Saida (Algeria) will square off in quest for the honours.
