Rwanda (U19) has been voted as the International Cricket Council (ICC) Associate Member’s best Women's Performer of the year 2022/23. Rwanda was among four African countries which swooped awards during the ICC development awards held on Friday, June 16. The General manager of the Rwanda Cricket Association, Emmanuel Byiringiro, was pleased with the success of his country in the sport and is optimistic they can build upon it to do better. It signifies the dedication, hard work and investment in developing women's cricket in the country. This award will have a significant impact on the development of cricket in Rwanda, inspiring more young girls and women to take up the sport. The award won will also enhance the visibility of Rwanda Cricket, paving the way for more opportunities and partnerships, he added. Rwanda fought off strong competition to reach the inaugural Women's U19 T20 World Cup and went on showcase their talents in the tournament, winning a match against Zimbabwe. The results were on the back of long-standing regional development programmes and U15 girls’ tournaments run every year in the country.
