Second division side Sunrise Football Club has announced the appointment of Abdul Mbarushimana as the new coach.The former Rayon Sport assistant coach was formally introduced at the Eastern Provincial headquarters in Rwamagana town yesterday.The coach comes well recommended and well qualified after a professional coaching career with various first division clubs including Nyanza and Electrogaz FC.Sunrise FC has also invited players across the country, who could be interested in playing for the team for trials at Rwamagana playground on Monday.Mbarushimana explained that after the initial trials, he hopes to put together a selection of about 50 players, to begin regular workouts through November.From these, he hopes to recruit 25 of the best players, who will make up his team to represent the Province in the National Second Division league, due to start next month.He explained that the selection process will not discriminate against any player on the basis of any background or previous playing experience but age. “We want young talented Rwandans to take the team to first division…this will be my goal. I have been assured of the team’s committee support,’ he said.Mbarushimana thanked the team’s committee for giving him the opportunity to be in charge of the team.Sunrise FC President Jean Marie Makombe said that team was more than committed to do well in the coming competitions.“We have wider objectives to shape our youth through sports…the team will comprise of senior and junior players. Football as a game can be used to maintain required values in our children. But of course we shall be competing at the national level and we have what it takes,” he said.
