This week the rainy season has proven it’s here to stay. The sharp chill of the air has caused me to bring out those rare sweaters and favorite boots - I love fall fashion! Cozy, classy, and chic. With the change of fashion, however, must come a change of face. Fortunately, the change is fabulous. BLACK CHERRY LIPSTICK Red lipstick will never go out of style. With the right shade, it looks good on any color. This year, things take a turn for the darker - some so dark they border on black. Plums and deep, deep reds are all the rage this fall. Don’t forget to dust on some skin warming blush or bronzer to avoid looking like you stepped off the set of TwilightGREEN SHADOW, COBALT BLUES Yes, it’s green. But it’s a rich, sexy, jewel-tone kind of green. Not crunchy or earthy. And BLUE! Not the kind you swipe over your lids when you’re 14 and sneaking out of the house. A bright, clear, and deep blue. Models at Jason Wu reigned supreme with these bright colors spread out over their lids with winged tips. For a more subtle effect, you can dust lids with gunmetal or charcoal, then press the bright color on top. Either way, add tons of black mascara. Oh so nice!GOLD ACCENTS Fortunately, one of my favourites (and a staple in my accessory department) is en vogue this season. Gold couldn’t have had a better showing at this fall’s Fashion Week in New York. Show off your delicate side with touches of gold on the eyes and cheeks. This gorgeous color gives skin a candlelit effect when dabbed on cheekbones as well. Of course, polishing the look with some gold earrings - big or small - has never been wrong. NUDE POLISH I am a huge fan of the painted nail, and happy to hear that one of my favourite looks was in this fall - the nude nail polish! It’s different, subtle, and sophisticated. Get ride of those bright yellows and pinks that were so trendy and buy into this look. It’ll easily match everything, and is consistent with those warm feelings you want to exude throughout these cold days. Spa Soul Space in Nyarutarama has some great nudes, beiges, and skin tone colors. GROOMED BROWS It may seem like a no-brainer, but one thing noticed on the runways this fall was thick, well groomed eyebrows. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to cost any money for this fashion trend! Brows look best when they perfectly frame your eyes, and when they’re not pencil-thin (which always looks unnatural). Some of the best advice I got was buying a brown pencil (try a shade lighter than your natural color) and filling them in. It’s best to tweeze when you’ve gotten out of the hot shower, as your pores will have opened and skin is less sensitive.
