Iyambo Troupe are joining the fight against drug abuse, according to Ndjoli Kayitankore, (better known as Kanyombya), the man who heads the group of actors. “As we entertain, we have now decided that we have the responsibility of rescuing the youth who are being gradually driven astray by the use of drugs especially in Kigali suburbs,” Kanyombya said. The group that comprises ten permanent actors is now working on two movies specifically designed to educate the public about the dangers of drug abuse. The two movies will hit the market early next month, according to Kanyombya. He says the group was inspired by reports that the rate of drug abuse, especially in secondary schools, was on the rise.“We not only want to inform students, but also make it clear to their parents and teachers that it is also their responsibility to protect children both at home and school,” Kanyombya said.Early this month, the group released two movies: Ekizere and Ndiho Ntariho.
