Rwanda’s Jean Claude Gasigwa clashed out of the Vodacom ITF/CAT Prize Money Circuit tournament in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, in the semi final stage on Sunday. A winner of the previous leg in Nairobi, Kanya, Gasigwa was ousted in the semi final 7-5, 6-4 by Zimbabwe’s Gwinyai Tongoona. Rwanda’s second seed had earlier ousted Tanzania’s Sebastian Mtupili in the quarter final stage of the lucrative third leg of the ITF/CAF money circuit. In the final, the vastly experienced Tongoona defeated compatriot Martin Dzuwa in three sets 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 to win the third leg if the ITF/CAT Money circuit. Dzuwa beat Kenya’s Francis Rogoi 6-2, 6-2 in the other semi final. In women’s category, Kenya’s Caroline Odour lost the first set but recovered well to beat compatriot Evelyn Otula in three sets 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 to set up a final clash with another compatriot Juliet Cherono, which played yesterday. Cherono beat Sudan’s Mohammed Sania6-1, 7-6. Winners in the ladies category took home $600, whereas the men’s winner got $800. Ends
