APR beat hapless Kigali Institute of Education 102-48 to continue their push for this year’s national basketball league on Saturday at Amahoro courts. The win against winless KIE was the third in a row for the former champions who also beat bitter rivals Espoir and Rwanda National University (UNR) in their last two outings. According to Innocent Rwabuhihi, Director of Sports in Ministry of Defence, “The club is not doing very well but also not very bad.” Next on the menu for the 2006 champions is a clash with an out of sorts UGB this Saturday at Amahoro courts. After defeats to Espoir (78-65) and CSKA (116-57) in their last two games, APR will be favourites to hand UGB a third defeat in as many games. Also on Saturday, defending champions, Marine will be to home to the National University of Rwanda, Espoir will take last year’s beaten finalists, CSK A while Sunday Rusizi entertain Marine in Changugu, Southern Province.
